Although the degree of difficulty is much lower to complete the 1873 Proof set without the gold, this year is a very popular one for the copper, nickel, and silver issues because of the weight change, noted on the smaller silver coins by the added arrows for the dime, quarter, and half dollar. The weight of the dollar was not changed, although Liberty Seated dollar series ended in 1873 and the heavier Trade dollar replaced it. The No Arrows and Arrows types make this a popular set to complete with collectors competing for high grade examples in auctions and on the bourse floor.
