1855 Mint Set with Gold

Completing the 1855 Mint Set is a real challenge. There are several silver and gold issues that are quite elusive, even in circulated grades. In Mint State several of the issues have not even had a single graded example (1855-S eagle and the 1855-O double eagle). The 1855-C gold dollar, the 1855-S three dollar coin, the 1855-C, 1885-D, and the 1855-S half eagles, as well as the 1855-O eagle are represented in Mint State by single examples or two or three at the most. The silver issues have a single Mint State example graded for the 1855-S half dollar, while the 1855-O quarter has only a couple of examples graded. Because of such rarities, this complete Mint Set is one of the toughest to complete. The finest set possible will contain examples of at least two coins in less than Mint State condition. Completion of this set is an incredible feat and would be the highlight of most collections.
