San Francisco Gold $10 Basic Set, Circulation Strikes (1854-1930)

Apparently most of San Francisco's efforts in their opening year of 1854 went into striking Eagles and Double Eagles. So while the Quarter and Half Eagle are legendary rarities, the larger coins of that year are fairly ordinary dates. The tough Eagles will prove to be the 1864-S and two of the later Indian types, 1920-S and 1930-S. Of course, the pre-Civil War and Civil War issues are extremely tough in higher grade, and for most dated between 1858 and 1866, Mint State pieces are unknown. If you can live with VF-XF quality for these dates, most are available.
