The first Mint Set of the 1900s carried on the theme set in the late 19th century with an Indian Cent, Liberty Nickel, three Barber silver coins and the Morgan Dollar. With three mints in operation striking the silver coins and Philadelphia handling the base metal issues, a total of 14 coins are included. Toughest will be the two mintmarked Barber Halves which while not major rarities by any means, are nonetheless scarce and costly in high grade. The gold coins likewise continued the 19th century look, with the Gobrecht / Longacre Liberty Head shown on all four denominations. The Eagle from San Francisco will prove beyond difficult in high grade, as PCGS has certified a mere three pieces above MS63.
