- 32 mm. Central reverse uninscribed. The 2004 edition of the Rulau reference on U.S. tokens suggests that just a dozen or so examples of this silver striking can be accounted for today, and that they were issued "as a reward for service to the Museum or for advancement of science, in memory of the late founder." Any example is an outstanding rarity, a highlight in a collection of United States Mint medals, Philadelphia tokens, or a historically based cabinet that celebrates the contributions of the Peale family to American arts and sciences (including future U.S. Mint Director Rembrandt Peale, Charles Willson Peale's son). This is only the fourth distinct specimen that we have brought to auction in at least a decade.
