- 详细说明
- Pleasing golden-brown patina dominates much of the surfaces while whispers of deeper olive-russet and steel-blue can be seen at the borders. Nice luster shows through the toning, both sides also readily revealing an expectably smooth appearance for the assigned grade. Well struck, though the stars along the right side of the obverse are flat, which is a typical characteristic of this die variety. The reverse is rotated approximately 45 degrees clockwise from coin alignment - an interesting feature. Most examples of the 1812 Overton-107 die pair show at least a minor trace of the reverse die lump that later forms atop the eagle's right wing, although this one does not show any sign of this feature. Die State 107.1, which corresponds to the O-107' attribution in the Autumn 2024 revision to Stephen J. Herrman's AMBPR for Bust half dollars, in which the rarity rating for this prime die state is estimated at R3.<p>An ideal type or date candidate, the Overton-107 attribution is a common one for the 1812 half dollar issue. In Gem Mint State, however, the extant population dwindles to a handful. The offered coin is tied for CC#2 for both the general 1812 O-107 attribution and the O-107' die state in the aforementioned Herrman reference. CAC approval confirms the originality and desirability.
