- THE GEORGE SCHWENK COLLECTION WOW! What an incredible PQ GEM! Borderline SUPERB quality, this gorgeous MS66+ ranks among the FINEST at PCGS, with just three in MS67 graded higher. A bold, icy lustrous brilliance gleams boldly on both sides of very high end 1918-D nickel. The most delicate iridescent silver-blue, rose-pink, and winter-green pastel hues come to life when rotated in a light. This coin is virtually PRISTINE and devoid of anything that detracts from the AMAZING visual allure! While the wartime economy was booming, a steep recession ensued in 1921, and most of the nearly 8.4 million coin mintage went into circulation. GEM examples are very scarce and the the 18-D is VERY RARE so fine. PCGS 35, NGC 5, CAC 10. This marvelous example sold for $17,625 in our July 2022 Regency Auction and the current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $18,500. Only a single MS67 has ever sold in auction, bringing $31,200 in July 2021. NONE of the 3 in MS67 are CAC approved, making this coin among the FINEST CAC approved pieces for the collector who demands top grade at both CAC and PCGS! Good luck. Cert.
