The 1911 is an often overlooked date in the conditionally challenging Barber half dollar series. This is a date that, while "common" in MS64 and lower grades, is virtually unheard of in SUPERB GEM, putting lots of collector demand on PQ GEMS like the presently offered example. A thick, frosty mint luster has a bold satiny sheen under the totally original dappled golden-russet antique patina. Sharply struck up devices are set against virtually FLAWLESS surfaces and the eye appeal is exceptional. PCGS 23, NGC 12, CAC 4. The current CAC CPG value is $5,680 and the PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $5,850. An example sold in June 2022 for $4,800. There is just a single MS66+ finer at PCGS, a coin that is being offered for direct sale currently at $17,500. This is a PQ example and should fit nicely in ANY top notch set. Good luck. Cert.
