- Lot 359 1829 N-8 R1 Large Letters. PCGS graded MS-65 Brown.Highly lustrous bluish steel and chocolate brown. The surfaces are satiny and nearly flawless, and this cent has outstanding eye appeal. A tiny planchet chip at the dentils over the right side of the D in UNITED is the best identifying mark (as struck), and it is barely visible to the unaided eye. LDS with thin rim cud breaks at star 8 and star 9 plus another at CA. Struck very slightly off center to K-5. Called MS60 and tied for CC#6 in the Bland census. Noyes says MS60 net AU55 and tied for CC#9, his photo #21472 (perhaps his assessment was tempered by a poor-quality photo). Our grade is MS63.
