Only 3,000 $3 gold pieces were struck for commerce, so these are quite scarce in any grade. This is a very pleasing near-GEM. Boldly lustrous golden surfaces with flashy brilliance and semi-reflective surfaces. The devices are sharply struck up with a nice frosty texture. There are a few minor light lines, but these do not impact the exceptional GEM like eye appeal. PCGS 124, NGC 97, CAC 25. The most recent example sold in April 2018 for $6,001. More recently a non-CAC NGC coin sold for $6,900 in the 2021 ANA auction. The current CAC CPG value is $7,910 and the PCGS Price Guide value is $7,250. Scarce finer. This near-GEM is worthy of a strong bid. Cert. Number 82110235 PCGS # 8001
