Tied for second FINEST graded by PCGS. This coin is all there and then some! For a 22-D, this coin has it all! Well struck, this impressive borderline SUPERB GEM is on the cusp of an even higher grade. A bold, sweeping luster has a vivacity that is rarely seen on this date. A satiny sheen compliments the pearly white iridescent overlay. Brilliant original silver surfaces gleam all over. Scattered traces of contact are seen only with a strong glass, but none are singularly distracting to the eye. The eye appeal is very high end. PCGS 367, NGC 279, CAC 91. PCGS has graded 64 in MS66+ and just three finer. We know there has to be some serious duplication of submissions on the Population and Census data as the same coin gets resubmitted in hopes of attaining that SUPERB MS67 grade. Clearly this date is EXCESSIVELY RARE in higher grade. The most recent example to sell brought $7,638 in our December 2022 Regency Auction. and the current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $8,500. Note that it jumps to $75,000 in MS67. This coin belongs in a great Registry Set of Peace dollars, as MS67s are virtually unobtainable! Good luck. Cert. Number 43575804 PCGS # 7358
