- From the Chester Roche Collection. With a mintage of 23,226, the 1847-C is one of the more "common" Charlotte mint quarter eagles. The good thing is that it is also one of the best struck and most lustrous examples, and as noted by Doug Winter, "This is one of the few Charlotte quarter eagles that the date collector can expect to find with good eye appeal." This old holdered MS61 is semi-reflective on the obverse with traces of PL character to the luster, the reverse is more frosty. Very pleasing, original color drapes both sides, of this Brilliant Uncirculated and CHOICE example. While a strong glass does reveals some tiny ticks the eye appeal is excellent and so much better than the conserved examples that are often seen in the market. PCGS 10, NGC 8. For a coin that experts say is available, the auction data tell a different story. Only two PCGS MS61s have ever sold in auction. The one sold in the 2018 FUN auction was the first since the 1999 FUN auction. That is a 19 year spread between sales! The presently offered coin is FRESH to the market and nicer than that coin, which realized only $4,320. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $7,200. A great opportunity to add a Mint Sate C-mint quarter eagle to your collection. Cert. Number 2675562 PCGS # 7745
