- GUATEMALA. Quetzal, 1925. PCGS AU-58 Gold Shield. KM-242. A popular low mintage one-year type coin featuring the national bird for which the monetary unit is named. A very attractive representative for the issue with a thin veneer of tone with areas of light mottled patina. According the SCWC 7,000 pieces were withdrawn and remelted in 1927 and 1928. Of those remaining, an additional unknown quantity was melted in 1932, leaving somewhat less than 3,000 survivors of this type. Estimate: $1,500 - $2,000.
