- Undated (1857) Pattern Double Eagle Uniface Reverse Hub Trial. Judd-A1857-5, Pollock-3143. Rarity-8. MS-62 BN (PCGS). An eagle with extended wings and an ornate shield on its breast is the only device present for this piece. The eagle carries a plain scroll in its beak and clutches an olive branch in its right talon and three arrows in its left. Struck on a copper planchet.

Gorgeous copper-brown surfaces with an area of lighter patina on the unstruck side opposite the device. Boldly defined throughout the eagle, and free of detracting blemishes -- a coin with superior quality and eye appeal for the assigned grade. Different from the Judd and Pollock plate coin, and also apparently finer, this piece may be one of only two known examples of this exceedingly rare hub trial.
