Undated (1857) Pattern Double Eagle Uniface Reverse Hub Trial. Judd-A1857-5, Pollock-3143. Rarity-8. MS-62 BN (PCGS). An eagle with extended wings and an ornate shield on its breast is the only device present for this piece. The eagle carries a plain scroll in its beak and clutches an olive branch in its right talon and three arrows in its left. Struck on a copper planchet.<br> </br>&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;Gorgeous copper-brown surfaces with an area of lighter patina on the unstruck side opposite the device. Boldly defined throughout the eagle, and free of detracting blemishes -- a coin with superior quality and eye appeal for the assigned grade. Different from the Judd and Pollock plate coin, and also apparently finer,&nbsp;this piece may be one of only two known examples of this exceedingly rare hub trial.
