- Ex Garrett Collection, as noted on the insert. A fabulous and totally original, awesomely pedigreed GEM example of this popular Trade Dollar pattern. Barber's Indian Princess design on the obverse, adopted from the earlier Longacre design, shows a seated Liberty figure with an Indian headdress seated, holding a pole with Liberty cap, and supporting a globe with the word LIBERTY and flags behind. The reverse is a small perched eagle with olive branch and arrows in the talons. E PLURIBUS UNUM in a scroll above, IN GOD WE TRUST in a scroll below. Struck in silver with a reeded edge, this is a Rarity-4 type. Exceptional quality, and one of the finer examples extant, PCGS has graded just five finer. Classic, old time blue, rose, and gold toning bathes the surfaces in totally original patina. The devices are sharply struck and they stand out against the watery mirrored reflective fields. The eye appeal is outstanding in every way! Ex Stack's March 1976 sale of the John Work Garrett Collection for The Johns Hopkins University, lot 666; Blue Moon Collection, Stack's Bowers March 2017, lot 2645. PCGS 13, NGC 8, CAC 6. There are just two in PR64+ at PCGS. This coin sold back in March 2017 for a record $16,450. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $9,250 and in our opinion, this coin has an overall better look than the vast majority of known specimens, including those graded higher. A wonderful opportunity not to be missed! Cert. Number 82928587 PCGS # 61596
