- An extremely challenging date in this lofty state of preservation. Indeed, PCGS has graded but a dozen specimens in MS65, and just nine finer! This is a rare date in this grade, despite the fairly large mintage of 5,620,000; clearly these were quickly absorbed into commercial channels and stayed there. The present coin has a satiny, frosted luster that glows throughout the fields and devices on both obverse and reverse. The devices are well struck and the definition is very bold throughout. Perhaps gently dipped ages ago, the surfaces are generally untoned, save for some touches of color clinging to the peripheral devices on the obverse. The eye appeal is quite pleasing. PCGS 12, NGC 8. The most recent example to sell in auction was the Larry Miller Collection coin, graded by NGC, which sold for $2,640. The current Collectors Universe value is $2,500. Aside from a single MS65 we sold twice, just one other MS65 sold in auction since 2007! Extremely RARE any finer, this GEM is a great coin for any set. Good luck! Cert. Number 41419777 PCGS # 4825.00
