- STRAITS SETTLEMENTS. 50 Cents, 1920. London Mint. George V. PCGS AU-50.
KM-35.2; Prid-37. Dot below bust variety. Far more elusive than the "cross" variety, this example is generally problem free, offering charcoal gray surfaces and a great overall strike. Not often presented for auction, this survivor is sure to entice competitive bidding.
According to "The Coins of the British Commonwealth of Nations, Part 2 Asian Territories" by F. Pridmore, in 1918, the Dollar and Half Dollar were authorized to be struck in .600 silver but, in 1920, the standard was reduced to .500. However, some dies with the dot below the bust were already prepared and used to strike Half Dollars before utilization of the new dies began.
Estimate: $500 - $700.
Provenance: From the BKingdom Collection.

The Coins of the British Commonwealth of Nations, Part 2 Asian Territories
