- SWITZERLAND. Swiss Confederation Shooting Festival in Frauenfeld Silver Medal, 1890 PCGS SPECIMEN-64. R-1250b; Martin-666. By Hugues Bovy, Genf. 45mm. Obverse: Frauenfeld Arms superimposed on three crossed rifles and a shooting target, all on a mixed wreath of oak and laurel; perimeter legend; Reverse: Armed Helvetia, sword in her right hand protectively holds shield above allegory of Thurgau, seated at right, who holds the Thurgau Arms; Frauenfeld castle in background at left, perimeter legend above, date in exergue below. The 1803 date commemorates the year Thurgau joined the Swiss Confederation. An attractive medal, steeped in history and heraldry, and displaying splendid old cabinet toning. Estimate: $300 - $500.
