- Lot 3 1793 C-3 R3 PCGS graded AU55.Rather frosty medium olive brown and steel with lighter steel brown and tan toning in protected areas. Sharply struck showing just a hint of friction on the highest points of the devices. The luster is subdued by a thin layer of natural oxidation and some microscopic dirt in protected areas, especially on the reverse. It appears this piece has never been brushed or "improved" in any way. The only marks, and they are visible only under strong magnification, are some very light hairline scratches hidden in the toning on the obverse. MDS with the always-present fine die rust on the reverse. Both sides show all the border beads, although a few on the lower part of the reverse are tight to the edge of the planchet. Our grade is AU50 sharpness net EF45+. The attribution and Green Tree Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label.
