- The mintage of this penultimate Proof Liberty Seated dollar issue is 950 pieces, several hundred of which are believed to have been released into commercial channels when they failed to sell to contemporary numismatists. The estimate of 575 coins extant provided by Dick Osburn and Brian Cushing in their 2018 reference <em>Liberty Seated Dollars: A Register of Die Varieties</em> certainly accounts for most examples distributed in the manner intended. Noticeable hairlining accounts for the grade of this sharply struck, virtually untoned specimen.
