- SWITZERLAND. Free Shoot of the Basel Shooting Society Silver Medal, 1909. PCGS SPECIMEN-63. R-132b; Martin-83. By Hans Frei, Basel. 29mm. Obverse: Plumed helmet above the society's arms, flanked by Arms of Switzerland and Basel-Stadt; perimeter legend; Reverse: Bust of Basilea facing left; anepigraphic. The society was founded in 1466 for guarding and defense purposes and still exists today. An attractive specimen of a dark argent patina with liberal amounts of subtle blue and russet toning.
