A surprisingly challenging date in the Barber half dollar series. While nearly five million examples were struck, few were saved at the time of issue and today, PCGS has graded just 27 in MS65 with just 11 finer. The presently offered GEM is brilliant with a pearlescent luster and a delicate kiss of clear champagne tone. Well struck and clean, the eye appeal is exceptional. PCGS 27, NGC 9, CAC 10. The most recent PCGS-graded example to sell in auction was NOT CAC and brought $2,520 in May 2022. The current PCGS Price Guide value is $2,600 and we think this one will bring more. Note that a 66 will cost around $7,000, if you can find a CAC approved example. Cert. Number 43183448 PCGS # 6492
