- SWITZERLAND. Obwalden Cantonal Shooting Festival Silver Medal, ND (ca. 1969). PCGS SPECIMEN-64. R-1052Ba. By Huguenin, Le Locle. 40mm. Engraved and awarded to Walter Gull in the 50m competition. Obverse: Arms of Obwalden upon oak and laurel branches; perimeter legend; engraved winner's name below arms; Reverse: Man, facing left with upraised right arm; mountains in the background. Walter Gull was a marksman in the 50 meter range, Ehrengabe class, active in the late 1960's. He placed first in a number of 1969 competitions, including the Confederation Shooting Festival in Thun in 1969. A new, larger, medal (R-1052A) was introduced for the 1970 Cantonal Shooting Festival. A lovely example with uniform argent toning. Note that the "R-1047" designation and estimated date on the holder are in error (note the different legends). Estimate: $100 - $150.
