详细说明: 1837 Capped Bust Half Dime. LM-3, Unlisted in Valentine. Rarity-6. Large 5C. VF-20 (PCGS). Both the obverse and reverse dies of this variety were used to strike other 1837 Capped Bust Half Dimes, but in the LM-3 marriage they are a rare combination. This variety was unknown until 1975, when it was discovered by David J. David and described by John W. McCloskey in an article written for the November 21, 1984 issue of <em>Coin World</em>.<br /> Typical of the variety, this piece is softly struck on the reverse over the eagle's head and left (facing) wing and leg. Moderate wear is noted for both sides, as befits the grade, but the diagnostics of the variety are readily evident with the aid of a loupe. Richly original with a few splashes of deeper patina to otherwise dominant dove-gray toning.
