- JAPAN. Copper-Nickel 10 Yen Pattern, Year 26 (1951). Osaka Mint. Hirohito (Showa). NGC MS-65. KM-Pn84; JNDA-6 (pg. 75); JC-Unlisted; Jacobs/Vermeule-Unlisted; Bank of Japan Collection-Unlisted. Despite being somewhat more commonly seen than earlier patterns, this interesting example is sure to entice on account of its exceptional state of preservation and famous pedigree. This design was rejected and, instead, a copper and unholed example was issued, making this example more reminiscent of the modern 50 Yen denomination. Alluring matte surfaces offers plenty of charm and excitement, exactly as one would expect for a Gem. Estimate: $3,000 - $5,000. Provenance: Ex: Norman Jacobs Collection.
