- SWITZERLAND. Valais Cantonal Shooting Festival in Monthey Silver Medal, 1903. PCGS SPECIMEN-64. R-1538a; Martin-904. by Hans Frei, Bâle. 45mm. Obverse: Arms of Monthey and Valais at left, superimposed on a floral sprig, mountains and cityscape in the background; date above, legend in exergue below; Reverse: Bust of youth with headscarf looking left, tendrils of grapevine at left and right; anepigraphic. This early 20th century piece creatively balances the design elements in a pleasing fashion without relying on symmetry or the anchoring elements to the geometric center of the medal.
