- A real Mint State example of this classic condition rarity in the Morgan dollar series. While 3.2 million were struck, the vast majority disappeared into circulation and remained there for ages, as even AU examples are considered scarce, and any bags that were stored in Treasury vaults were melted down per the provisions of the 1918 Pittman Act. A frosty luster accents a pearly, antique pewter/silver and golden-tan patina. Well struck the devices are fully rendered and have crisply defined devices. Some minor scratches and contact marks are noted and account for the assigned grade, but they do not detract from the eye appeal and this is not some "super slider" that just made it into a Mint State holder, this is the real deal! PCGS 111, NGC 210. Recent APRs are clustered in the $9,000-$11,000 range and the current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $13,500.
