详细说明: 1799 Draped Bust Silver Dollar. B-19, BB-155. Rarity-5. BB Die State IV. AU-53 (NGC). This appealing Condition Census quality 1799 BB-155 dollar is also a rare die pairing. The toning is light silver with a golden blush on the obverse, matching on the reverse with a few traces of patina in the legend on that side. Clean surfaces and attractive with no handling problems or adjustments present on the coin. Both dies were used to strike other 1799 dollar varieties. The obverse die was first used to strike the similarly rare 1799 B-18, BB-154 die marriage, then cracked heavily through the first three stars when combined for this die pairing later. For the reverse it was first employed here on the B-19, BB-155 die marriage then the reverse went on to strike the 1799/8 B-2, BB-143 coins. While the die varieties of 1799 offer a wide range of rarity, all are obtainable with patience, and the coins are generally well struck and attractive for collectors, hence this particular year offers both quality and a challenge for collectors. For variety specialist this is one of the four scarcest of the 1799 die varieties to find, especially in high grades. A memorable coin and important offering.
