THE BOYLSTON COLLECTION, PART IV An extremely RARE early Proof Seated Liberty half dollar, as are all dates struck prior to 1858! While the mintage is not known, it was extremely small, with approximately 25 estimated to have been struck (though PCGS CoinFacts suggests a total of 35 known in all grades, which likely comes from the total number graded between PCGS and NGC and there are lots of duplication, with crossovers, upgrades, etc). This is a CHOICE quality example, with bold watery mirrors that are dusted over by a hint of faint iridescent silver-white haze and pale gold accents. Sharply struck overall, the details are crisp and complete. The eye appeal is decent for the modest grade. Only 25 Proofs are thought to have been struck. PCGS 8, NGC 4. There has not been a PCGS PR63 sold since 2013! The current Collectors Universe value is listed at $7,500. This is a major rarity missing from many collections. Cert. Number 28901654 PCGS # 6410
