- This key date Carson City Mint Morgan dollar issue, when offered in circulated grades at all, is apt to be well worn in the VG to VF range. Apparently, the limited release of examples into circulation happened during the late 19th century, resulting in the coins acquiring considerable wear before being set aside by contemporary Americans or, more likely, finding their way back into government holding. The offered example is a noteworthy departure from this norm with surfaces that have acquired only light high point rub and trivial field friction. Brilliant with ample luster remaining, this is a significant and desirable AU for the challenging 1889-CC.
