- Extremely Rare Early Gold Issue from Schwyz Possibly the Only Example Offered in the Last 20 Years SWITZERLAND. Schwyz. Scudo d'Oro (Goldkronen), ND (1510-20). Bellinzona Mint. PCGS AU-58 Gold Shield. Fr-376 (plate coin); HMZ-2-778 (plate coin). 3.42 grams. Obverse: Small imperial eagle poised over a completely blank, archaic shield of Schwyz, legends read: "MONETA :*: NO :*: SVITENSIS :★:"; Reverse: Cross fleury in circles, legend: "SALVE. CRVX. SANCTA. ET. bENEDICT", "Hail and Bless Thee, O Holy Cross". Exceptional quality for this early Swiss type, showcasing a strike that is bold and well centered on the flan and surfaces that are nicely preserved with sparkling luster and vibrant orange gold color.
