FROM THE SAND HILL COLLECTION. This is a very scarce early date Barber half in near GEM quality--about as close to GEM as you could get. Warm, glowing, satiny luster blooms on both sides of this nicely preserved half. Brilliant silver centers yield to a ring of varied green, gold, and blue shades at the extreme periphery. Sharply struck and very pretty for the advanced collector. PCGS 42, NGC 29, CAC 10. Only four coins are graded MS64+ at PCGS, and this date is indeed very scarce any finer. This coin is a study in how badly this series has been beaten down in value in the last few years. This coin sold for $3,055 in the 2013 FUN auction. Since then CAC approved GEMS have sold for that much. The current PCGS value is listed at $1,950 and we think this one is worthy of a bid well in excess of that amount. Good luck! Cert.
