An exceptional example of the first year of issue of this odd, obsolete denomination. Tied for FINEST graded, this coin is a wonderful piece well worthy of its lofty designation! Of course to the naked eye the surfaces look flawless. Much to our surprise, even when using a strong glass they remain flawless! You can spend an entire day looking at this coin and still find ZERO impairments. There is a slight trace of prooflike mirrors around the star on the obverse. Deeper original golden brown toning is splashed around but does not fully cover both sides. There are also light hints of original sky blue on the reverse. The strike is incredible and is beyond anything we have seen for any Mint State trime. The eye appeal is fantastic! PCGS 28, NGC 14, CAC 10. There are five graded MS67+ at the very TOP OF THE POP! This coin has a record of nearly $10,000 in our September 2019 Regency Auction and the current Collectors Universe value is listed at $13,500. NONE are finer and this is a very important opportunity for the advanced collector; whether you are building the #1 PCGS set or putting away neat type coins, take a close look at this FINEST graded 1851 three cent silver.
