Ex Fairmont Collection, as noted on the insert.
The silent stopper of the series. Try finding a choice or better coin-they are impossible. This coin is simply amazing for its grade!
In our opinion (LSS) this coin is a 63+++. The amount of chatter on the surfaces is so small and minimal. Only when using a strong glass can you see any of the light chatter. The originality just oozes from this coin. A moderate luster can be seen. Both sides are a slightly deeper gold color. This is NOT a dirty or dull coin. There are no spots or discolorations-especially on the highpoints. All of the details are sharply struck. The eye appeal for this 14-S is clearly above average!
PCGS 62, NGC 25, CAC 17. There are 2 in MS63+ at PCGS and just nine finer. This coin sold in April 2022 for $28,800 and the current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $35,000. It should be noted only four have beaned finer, the last PCGS MS64 CAC sold over a dozen years ago for $92,000! The lone PCGS CAC MS65 is in the Half Dome collection. If you are building a choice/GEM set of $5 Indians, this maybe one of your few chances ever to buy a nice 14-S!
