- 41.1. mm. 441.2 grains. Plain edge. A particularly choice example of this popular medal. Honey-brown and olive with a glossy, lustrous finish. The planchet shows some natural flaws on the obverse rim between 9 o'clock and 12 o'clock, but the surfaces are free of significant distractions. Well struck and finely detailed. Our consignor termed this an "original, plain edge, late strike," and the color and surface do more resemble a medal of the early 19th century vs. those seen on medals struck in the 18th. Ford had 16 of these, suggesting the extraordinary length of time over which this medal was a hot seller for the Paris Mint.
