- Ex Norweb, Price, and Duckor Collections. First, let the provenance sink in for a moment, and imagine your name added to that impressive pedigree chain. Realize also that this frosty, lustrous, borderline SUPERB GEM, is tied for FINEST graded at PCGS and deservingly so! David Akers, in his cataloging of this coin in the Thaine Price Collection stated that this was "an outstanding example... It is sharply struck with superb luster and a very attractive speckled reddish-gold toning. There are only a couple of microscopic marks on the entire coin and its overall eye appeal matches its extremely high technical quality...it is apparent that Gems of the caliber of this piece are quite rare and very desirable." There really is not much that we can add to that description. Mr. Akers was correct that in such a lofty state of preservation, the 15-D, is quite RARE. PCGS 27, NGC 11, CAC 15. Ex Norweb Collection, Bowers and Merena, November 1988, lot 3665, as "MS65". According to our sale room copy, the lot opened at $1,000 and hammered at $7,000. Later it appeared in Thaine B. Price Collection, David Akers, May 1998, lot 195, as Gem Uncirculated, where it realized $7,150; later still in the Dr. and Mrs. Steven L. Duckor Collection, Heritage, August 2010, lot 3244 where it was graded PCGS MS66+ CAC and realized $6,900. Today, we think this coin will see very strong bidding. Remember your name can now be associated with a pedigree chain that goes back to three major collections of Barber halves. Cert. Number 16432115 PCGS # 6533
