- 1826 Matron Head Cent. N-1. Rarity-2. MS-65 BN (PCGS). Satiny, fully lustrous surfaces that are remarkably free of marks or spots. This cent has solid Gem attributes throughout. Medium to dark brown with highlights of steel-blue and light olive. Each side is slightly misaligned but the overall strike is above average with fully brought up detail on the portrait and wreath, and a majority of the stars showing their full radial lines. Later die state with a rim break over star 6. Among an elite group of mint state survivors of this die variety, none of which are clearly superior to the offered example.
