Despite a sizable mintage, the 1924-D is a major condition rarity. Indeed, after 36 years of operations, PCGS has graded none finer than MS66, making this marvelous GEM tied for second highest graded. This Premium Quality GEM is a very classy piece. Brilliantly lustrous for the issue, the satiny mint frost glows boldly on the light pewter-gray and iridescent toned surfaces. Sharply struck devices stand out nicely against nearly pristine surfaces. A strong glass reveals nothing but a stray line or two, none of which have any impact on the outstanding eye appeal nor are out of step for the MS65+ technical grade. We love the look of this GEM! PCGS 182, NGC 30, CAC 34. There are 60 in MS65+, but no doubt, due to the rarity of this date in MS66, there is much duplication of MS65 and MS65+ examples being cracked out and being resubmitted in hopes of getting a 66 grade. The current PCGS Price Guide value is listed at $6,500. There is a wide range of APRs for this date in high grade, but any PCGS MS66 CAC will cost into the five figures. This beauty is bound for a great Registry Set, if you are building a set in GEM, do not let this opportunity pass you by! Cert. Number 41677371 PCGS # 3952
